Shikake-Oji (backup 01/21)

Concept, Design and 3D animation

These 8 routines, called Shikake-Oji, are trained in pairs during Naginata practice (Japanese martial art similar to "Kendo"). The practice aims to train the body and the mind by repeating these routines containing most of the existent strikes and defences of this fantastic sport.

These are the results when I cloned the weapons along their trajectories:

Attacker: Gold, Defender: Silver

Attacker: Gold, Defender: Silver

Attacker: Blue, Defender: Yellow

Attacker: Blue, Defender: Yellow

Attacker: Silver, Defender: Copper

As a practitioner, I carefully reproduced here the way these acts and routines are memorised in my head. The exciting thing was that after finished all of them, I realised I got better in the real practice of the sport, by forcing myself to understand better where the weapon is and how it moves in a 3D space of the computer software.

I created some prints and sold them to help the Brazilian National Team in the 2019 World Naginata Championship held in Germany.

It was the first time that I saw something I did on 3D in a really good printing. (sorry about the bad quality pictures).
